I was looking into changing my CPU block and was wonder what you guys would go for. It looks like the Koolance 370 and XSPC Raystorm are the best atm but the 370 cost about 40$ more.

I do like the look of the 370 but is it worth it? Or is there a better block to be had?

the 370 was pretty much the CPU block to get for awhile.
with the release of the raystorm that sorta changed. it is able to cool as well if not better than the 370 and with less restriction (one of the lowest restrictive blocks from memory) to the loop plus as you pointed out, quite a bit cheaper.

i'm using a raystorm in my rig and pretty happy with it. my only complaint is the plexi hold-down bracket is a bit thin on the sides and it'll warp a bit when installed. would of been better is XSPC used a bit more metal for the bracket imho.

note: i'm referring to the hold-down plate for AMD AM2/3/3+ sockets. the bracket for intel is a bit different and possibly a bit better than the AMD one. in any case, the 'more metal' criticism holds for both brackets.

Well looks like i will be getting a Raystorm, i really cant see a reason for the 370. I do agree with you about the top, i do wish there was more metal but with a flow rate like that its hard to say no.

it's a damn nice block, apart from the slight niggle on hold-down plate, tho if metal one is available, may need to look at that myself.

just checked the link, the aluminium bracket is only for intel sockets, nothing for AMD, sigh.

If you were feeling [h]ard and saucy, you could theoretically purchase a plate of aluminum and make your own bracket, using the plexi bracket as a template.

That would be a sweet worklog thread.

:D

Spent way to much ordering parts to update my loop, hopefully have it all up and running in 2 weeks. Should be a pretty neat build with the raystorm as center peice.
