i killed my bios in a failed bios update attempt about 2 weeks ago. i have a pentium D 805. when i broke my computer, it would hang around 10-15% usage at idle. i just put in the new bios chip and a new hsf and booted up my computer. all the bios seetting reset obviously, and my cpu is now about 15 degrees cooler :). however, i cant figure out why my cpu usage (using ctrl+alt+del) is not at around 80% when im not even doing anything. i had it OCd before to around 3GHz, now its at stock 2.67. i have steam, firefox, etc open, but no movies or games running. anyone got any ideas why its saying this? thanks.

Glad it's running cooler.

You should go back to Task Mgr and open up second tab "Processes" and see what programs are using your CPU. Right now mines at 0 to 1 percent.

Could be your anti-virus
 
no antivirus. i did check. just stuff like steam, sound drivers, etc. exactly what i always had running in the background before.

i restarted my computer a couple times and it seems to be idling at 0-3% now, so i guess problem solved? heh. thanks anyway. now to update bios and upgrade to my e6600! bye pD!
