If I were to overclock a cpu (athlon xp 3000+) from 2.2ghz to about 2.4, how much would my computer life decrease by? what if i used watercooling, etc other means instead of fans?

and for video card (9600 pro) by how much would its life decrease if i overclocked the vid card by an increase of about 30ish on the core using stock cooling? thanks for your time!
 
The reason no one is answering is because the life expectancy of an overclocked system is longer than any enthusiast would keep an old system.

If you are overclocking, you are looking for a high end system. The odds are good that by the time your cpu or video card will die from any shortened lifespan, you will have moved on to a higher end system.

In conclusion, i would say that any shortened lifespan is insignificant compared to the money saved and performance gained through overclocking.
 
plus it's something that seems to have to do more with luck, then figures...

I've been running my video card oc'ed for about two years now...just shy of that, and *knock on wood* haven't had any issues with it, but dosent mean that if I had gotten another card because I was the person in line at the store before me, it would of lasted this long...maybe longer maybe shorter, no one really knows, so many variations
