CPU and NB temperature question

Ok I built my new system last night and it posted. I then went into the BIOS to make sure it saw all my hardware, all was good with that. Then I checked my temperatures and my CPU was 50C. under no load, and my NB was 43C. in no load. The ambient temp was about 85F. I was wondering if these are too hot or they are about average?

My system:

AMD 64 3200+
ATI Radeon 9800 PRO 128
1 GB Simple tech DDR433
MSI K8N Neo Platinum nForce3 250Gb Athlon 64
 
I don't know how hot the new athlons run, but that'd be too hot for me. Maybe try reseating the Heatsink.
 
I too don't know the temps 64's run but did you try some thermal paste or did you use the stock stuff... I would try some arctic silver 5. Some other things to consider are maybe voltages (should show them on the health monitor section of your bios where you have the temps) and room temp.
 
that seems about right, acctually pretty decent since the room is so hot.
 
well with my comp (2500+ @ 2.3 1.75v) i get around 35 degrees max on the mobo and thats in 40 degree heat!, in a 25 degree day i get around 27C so i think it a bit warm. is ur NB passive cooled or got a fan? if a fan it shold definitely be cooler.
 
I have a 3200+ on a K8N Neo and my CPU temp is reported at 47C. However my chipset is only 32C. I replaced the chipset heatsink with the Swifty chipset heatsink. Those coolers do a pretty good job.

35 in 40 degree heat? On air or water, that's simply not going to happen unless you have some snazzy active cooling going on. Besides, 40 degree heat? yikes
 
Yeah. 5 degree lower then room temp, not on air. Mose case it's alot higher.
 
eh.. even with water cooling you cant get below ambient, being that the water is cooled by the air. the only way to do that would be with a phase change/water chiller system
 
you can get below ambient with watercoolign using a bong cooling system, but they have to be filled every day so they kind of suck

Can't cool below ambient without phase changing or active cooling. Only reason you have it 5c lower than room temp would be.... Your MOBO is just flat out reading it wrong :)
