We use our drivers.
Catalyst Control Panel.
Unlike NPoo it lets us view our current clocks, our temperature, allows us to overclock our cards, change a multitude of display settings and with profiles and some simple text editing allows us to control our fans.

hmm, where in the control panel is it? you can do it with nvidia in the control panel as well, just need ntune installed.
Use the Overdrive portion of the Catalyst Control Panel.
RivaTuner, when it comes out with 2.10 is also good.
Unlike nvidia,you can do everything from Overdrive; and you don't need any stinking ntune.
You should look in the "help" portion of the CCC, that might help. Or d/l the user's guide to the CCC.
Anyway, currently the fan controls for the 4800 series are not so good.

but the driver package has a monitor as well
the temp you see in the CCC ait package is showing the hotter GPU (farthers from the fan) so its always the warm one
mine dont exceed 88 after hours of crysis loops and the fan only hits the 3600 mark on occasion usually at the 2800 mark

I think my case has decent airflow, its a p182 with 4 120mm case fans in it and a xigmatek S1283 hsf on cpu.
