i know someone with an LCD monitor and when he plays counter-strike his fps caps at 60fps. vsync is off and fps_max is set at 100. why can't it go higher than 60fps?

If he has a ATI card make sure temprol anyi-aliasing is disabled also the newest drivers. I have had this problem upod reinstall and it was temprol anti-aliasing

Its not a Monitor problem

Actually, if his LCD's refresh rate is capped at 60hz...his FPS would be too, right?
I know mine does that when in DVI mode although in analog it'll go up to 75hz.

I think it IS the monitor as LCD's do tend to have lower refresh rates because visually they don't refresh like CRT's and wouldn't affect your eyes the same way.

not is he had vsync off,

with cs it would go to the max you set it at.

i ahve a85 refesh rate but mine goes to 100 fps

woops, you're right...I was thinking he had it on.
I *haaaaaaaaaate* playing with it off. To me tearing is worse than choppiness.

hmmm he does have temporal AA on. if he enables regular AA, will he still have this problem? or will he have to completely disable AA?
