I'm trying to get these 32 machines up before the weekend but I can't get them to get out on the network! Surfing the web works fine, but I get the error "Could not connect to Primary Assignment Server for ID" and "Couldn't send HTTP request to server (wininet)" when I try to execute the console version. I've tried every combination of "Use IE settings" and "Use Proxy" and it just keeps retrying. Any ideas? I honestly don't know how they have the training room setup (haven't been educated on that network segment yet) and IE does use a proxy for web surfing. What format does the proxy setting have to be in, anything special?

i'm getting this:
Code:
[13:22:21] + Attempting to get work packet
[13:22:21] - Connecting to assignment server
[13:22:21] - Couldn't send HTTP request to server
[13:22:21] (Got status 502)
[13:22:21] + Could not connect to Assignment Server
[13:22:21] - Couldn't send HTTP request to server
[13:22:21] (Got status 502)
[13:22:21] + Could not connect to Assignment Server 2
[13:22:21] + Couldn't get work instructions.
[13:22:21] - Error: Attempt #89 to get work failed, and no other work to do.
             Waiting before retry.
been getting it for 6-7 days now:(
its only at attempt #89 because i restarted folding a day or two ago. didn't help.

any ideas?

Have you tried flushing the dns? Sometimes I have to do that on my work network when the dns server gets a bug up its ass and just denies everything to Stanford, folding or otherwise. The strange thing is that its only Stanford though... everything else is fine.

.

well, i just tried that (i think i did it before, and that may have caused a problem:eek: i forgot about possible DNS problems) so i'll see what happens. it isn't just my machine, though... i think the other ones on my network are doing it too. it may be some issue on the proxy... i'll have to try flushdns on that too if this doesn't work.

I did some reserch on your problem.
These links might help~

http://forum.folding-community.org/viewtopic.php?t=10642&highlight=network+problems

here is the link for the server forum at stanford`

http://forum.folding-community.org/viewforum.php?f=11

if you cant find anything that helps , restart F@H with the flag " -verbosity 9 "
( This option should be used if the user wishes to see more detailed client output, particularly useful if there is a problem which needs to be reported to the F@H client development team.)

let it run for a bit and post a copy of your FAHlog on that site, the stanford guys should be able to pin point the problem

Good luck!

well, after reading the 2nd two links (thanks a bunch btw) it seems that because the squid proxy is a http 1.0 proxy, i'm screwed until i can find a 1.1 proxy to use instead of or in addition to squid. grr:mad: at least this might fix it...
