i was looking at the Iwill ZMAX-DP dual socket 940 CPU sff. if i got this with 2 Opteron 244's, and i had a other SFF shuttle with.....lets say AMD athlon 64 3700+. will i really tell the diference between these 2? such as in gameplay etc....... because the price tag is preety steep for it. its $675

Well You can tell difference if You are rendering or using it for server or what ever.
In gaming more important is to have good grafic card.

Like I have SN95G5 (socket 939 nForce3 250 Ultra chipset) with 3000+ Winchester core CPU and GeForce 6800GT. With 2x 256 MB RAM I have bit chaching that can be seen on start up of HL2 though in game everything is simply super fast. With 2x512 MB even that little caching lag is gone.
Considering how much money dual operton would cost in SFF format I would not go for it.
My mashine is allready fast and I can imagine that SN95G5 with some loving of a FX CPU's, or any Winchester from 3500+ and up, it would be real high end gamin rig.
You can go though with 2 GB RAM and 6800 Ultra or x800 XT PE (it would feel strange for Me to have ATI grafic card on Nvidia chipset mobo though) and then You have great 3D engine.
Next to it take 1 or even two Maxtor 250 GB or 300 GB 16 MB SATA HDDs (two for raid configuration) and NEC 3520 and Card reader with USB2 and Your Shuttle is fully loaded.
Only then tkae care of power.Stock PSU powers My configuration without brakinga sweat (expet when realy raped it gets bit hot :) )

N25P is also coming and it has bigger PSU more place and better cooling. Hence You might wait for it too. It has also nForce 4 chipset with PCI e hence You could use x850XT if You could find one.

So even 3000+ with 6800GT and 1GB RAM is decent gaming mashine that plays games like HL2 in full details with no sweat. Bit faster CPU bit faster Grafic card and bit more ram and You have high end gaming mashine. You doo not need dual opertons to game with.

damn dude, your really helpful. thank you so much :)

Sure you could - the Dual Opterons would be 33% slower in gaming, since only one is being used. Star Wars Galaxies and the upcoming Unreal 3 are the only games known to take advantage of it.

Would be kickass for video production though.
