Tax returns should be in the bank any day now and I need to upgrade to better memory in my computer because I plan on overclocking it. Here is what I have now.

Intel I7 920 C0
Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD4P Rev: 1.0
12 GB DDR3 1066

I mostly use the computer for gaming but I do edit video from time to time. I would like to have at lease 12 GB memory. I could use some advice on what type of memory that I can use and need for the cpu motherboard combo that I have. I know that the memory that in the computer now is holding me back from higher clock speeds right now.

Thanks for the help!!!

What's your current CAS latency and timings?

You say your speed is 1066 I see.

If you get memory with slightly lower CAS latency/Timings + Higher Speed 1600+ and get it Cheap/On sale I owuld say it's a smart move.

Best bang for the buck is prob 3x4 (12GB) DDR3 1600 Triple channel kits for 65-75 all over Newegg. DDR3 2000 around 99 a kit. Maybe you should also get 2 kits for 24GB total. :D It's just tax money.
