could this damage my raptor?

i pluged in both the legacy and sata power connectors until i noticed the label stating not to connect both in at the same time could this damage the raptor? i only had it like this for a day or so and i didnt install the os or anything yet jus fooled around in the bios

and another thing im not sure about is where tape on the thermal probe on the hdd. i no ur not suppose to cover up the hole but which part of the hdd gets the hottest during use? should i put it on top of the metal part with the sticker or the other side where the chips showing?

The best place would be on the side of the drive. The large metal block is used as a heatsink.

And yes it could screw up the drive. Hopefully you haven't, but don't do it again in any case.

 
I agree, put the thermal sensor on the side. The heat rises through the top case, so that's bad. The PCB on the underside also emits heat from its array of ICs, resistors, capacitors, etc so that's a bad location as well.
 
hm if my hdds positioned vertically then would it be better placing it on the heatsink? i jus want the most accurate reading im jus going to use a little bit of tape to hold it on their so im not too worried about it overheating

I would recommend you use just enough tape to hold the sensor on, but try not to cover the sensor itself with tape. You want ambient temps the casing is experiencing, not the temp of the aluminum itself.
