i was wondering the reason why my computer just all of a sudden will turn off. i can say for sure that it seems like it happens more during 3d gaming. What i am wondering is i have a 6800 gt and its supposte to have 2 power connections going to it one on the card and one on the mohter board, but my new motherboard doesnt have one for the agp slot. So do you think it could be that it is shutting down because its not getting the power it needs

my specs are:
amd 64 3500+ socket 939
msi k8n neo 2 platinum
evga nvidia 6800 gt
geil pc3200 dual channel value ram (2x512mb)
powmax demon 580w psu
creative audigy 2
antec lanboy

thanks for any help, and just ask if you want any more information

Most likely your power supply. Powmax makes horrid psus. Upgrade to a quality brand as soon as possible.

thing is the psu worked fine for a long time and in another computer with the same video card, though this was on a p4, that generally used more power the the amd

I just had a similar problem, it turned out to be the CPU, I tried new power supply, video card, hard drive. I had another CPU laying around, stuck it in and no more problems. Who knows, spontainious reboots are sometimes hard to fix. Is your CPU overclocked at all? Could also be memory. Could be heat if it happens after some time during a game.
