Im kinda disappointed here, and i know my Shuttle AK38 mobo is a pile... but the rest of my hardware i _thought_ could do something.

Shuttle AK38n motherboard
VIA - KT333+VT8235
Athlon XP 2400+ (2.0ghz)

1gig DDR-333 PC2700 (dram clock set at 166 for full 333 operation)
ATI 9500pro

I wanted to get this cpu upwords of 166 FSB so i could match the RAM, i walked it up and couldnt get it over 143 in the frequency settings. 145 booted but crashed, 150-155 at least showed the bios with the speeds but didnt recognize the 2400+ code (155 was at 2325mhz) and 160-165 didnt even post it just showed the VGA bios output?

I've got plenty of cooling, I cant seem to adjust the core voltage, cant seem to adjust the multiplier - in fact theres no where in this stupid bios for multiplier so i'll have to see if its a jumper or something circa 1999 lol how lame.

Any suggestions?

well i got it to 145, started running 3dmark05 and it crashed by the time i got back from a smoke break... now its got a corrupted system config durring boot.

OT, stop smoking, I did it for 10 years, it not worth it... not to mention the whole dying thing really sux :p I quit as soon as my buddy died of a heart attack earlier this year.

lol we're all gonna die. yeah smoking sucks... problem is, quitting is stressful, when im stressed i smoke. :(

I've been digging around the internet looking for details on oc'ing a shuttle... looks like they have some anti CPU-Burn crap that basically does all the multiplier functions for you - how lame cause i'd really like to change it to 166fsb to match my ram, and just lower the multiplier down so its not kirking out. I've been trying to find a copy of the manual to see if theres perhaps a jumper to change it.

guess thats what i get for buying a cheapo mobo. i used to slam my 1ghz tbird at around 1.5 w/o any problems on an abit board

Some 3DMark05 Pro results for anyone thats interested; everything default all test options checked:

Stock setup:
2.0ghz @ 266 FSB (133 freq)
DDR2700 @ 333mhz
128mb ATI 9500 pro / 4xAGP w/ 64mb aperture

Results: 1639

Stage 1 setup:
2.1ghz @ 280 FSB (140 freq)
DDR2700 @ 333mhz but with 4-bank interleave on and burst set from 4 to 8
same vga settings

Results: 1698

I'll update as i go
