I planning to OC my RAM 10mhz(yes only 10) but even when OCed 5mhz @ 2.8v I get stability issues. Its rated DDR400

I relaxed my timings to 2.5-3-3-11 and was able to attain a 15mhz OC, but it actually ran slower than 11.5x205 with 2-2-2-11 timings. I want to see if more voltage will allow my RAM to clock higher while maintaining the tight timings.

Also, my case is extremely cool so heat is not an issue.

Would 3v fry my Kingston HyperX memory?
 
theres something else wrong. that ram should OC at the very least 10 mhz without ANY voltage adjustments. generic ram can even do 10 mhz.
 
If you can run 2-2-2-X timings and ur HyperX part number is KHX3200 without an "A", then you probably have BH-5 chips.

3v wont fry it, I don't think I've ever heard of people frying RAM even at up to 3.6v.
Just don't leave it 24/7 at high voltages.

If you do indeed have BH-5 chips, you should be able to pump it up at least 20Mhz at 2.8v.
If not, most BH-5 chips can do close to PC4000 speeds at 3.2v. Depends on your luck I guess. ;)
 
3v isn't too bad but HyperX shouldnt need it to do that. You maybe be maxing your board. If you have newer KHX it will probably have CH5 chips and in that case ras to cas needs to be set to 3. So if you are trying to OC it set at 2 that would jump out at me as to why it is not stable so little over stock. I dont know what you've tried but if you started at 2-2-2, it is common for that not to work, so simply loosen that one timing. No reason to send the rest down the shitter with it. In fact as you are seeing any gains (fsb) will be moot like that anyway.

I know KHX3200 non A is BH5 but dont know that everyone really goes to these kind of lengths when sigging there ram.
 
How about Mushkin memory? I too have been a bit nervous about running my memory higher than 3v. I think I can hit 3.4v on my motherboard. My machine fails Prime 95 the minute I go even 1mhz over 213FSB. I may be able to game for days at 220+ but Prime95 is not happy.
