Corsair xms3 overclocking?

I've had a bunch of problems with my 2x2 xms3 (2 orders both DOA, 3rd finally worked) model CMX4GX3M2A1600C7 let alone trying to overclock them. I finally have them stable but they are running at 9-9-9 @1333 versus what my mobo and the ram can handle at 7-8-7-20 @1600....auto voltage. I'm not sure if any of you know how to get around a gigabyte mobo since i'm used to asus to get my gear oc'ed. btw, that ram has no ecc. if that makes a difference
 
it reads just above 1.6v. going back and forth from 1.62-1.63 -- when trying to tweak them, i set them at 1.6 but it didn't change the fact that i couldn't POST.
 
The rated voltage is 1.65v. They will post at JEDEC 1.5v of course but they need a minimum of 1.65v to be guaranteed to hit spec. On an AMD machine, you can easily do 1.7v - 1.75v.
 
my ddr3 ram wouldnt be stable at auto either although it isnt corsair ram. It auto'd at 1.5v and I left it on SPD timings, BSOD galore. I upped voltage to 1.65v and manually se timing to XMP profile and is now stable.
 
sorry for the tardy reply. I didn't start retesting until today and I got almost everything stable. I don't know if this config will perform better than the auto settings, but as of now, my settings:
dram freq 803.7
fsb:dram 1:4
cas lat 7
ras cas 8
ras precharge 7
tRAS 29
tRC 41
command rate 2T

my fsb i set to manual, but left it auto at 200mhz. the DRAM voltage is set at 1.67

another note, I have two spanned hard drives aside from my boot drive and they have turned off since my tweaking. any ideas how to manually set aside more power so that my hdd's stay on? (b/c I think they turned off because they aren't receiving enough power) thanks
p.s. should i/how do i sticky this to another thread?

UPDATE:
got the settings tightened to expected timings; 7-8-7-20 @1.67v

was thinking whether or not to go 1T or stay at 2T if anyone had any suggestions if 1T will really make a difference in ddr3. i'm currently stable at 2T.
 
I have toyed with 1T on my ram, and can honestly not notice a difference, on benchmarks it was even very slightly lower, but very slight.
