What kind of OC have people been getting with Corsair XMS 3200XL? I thought this stuff would do at least 240 or 250 at 3-4-4-10 but I wasn't stable at 240 and dropped back to 230 and even at 230 I crashed after about a half hour of gaming. This is with a 90nm 3200+, 10x multi, 4x HT, 2.85 v on the memory. Maybe I just need some burn in time, and I need to do some testing with a divider set to see what the max clock on the CPU is, but I thought 230 or 240 would be no problem.

Right now I'm at 220 (2.2 GHz) with the timings at 2.5-3-2-10, 2.75 v on the memory (haven't tried to get the timings any lower at 2.2 GHz, I know with 2.75 v it won't do over 210 at 2-2-2-5). Seems pretty weak. Have people had large increases in OCability after the computer burns in a little? I've only had it since Monday night, and I haven't really been working it hard to get it burned in.

I just upgraded from that exact RAM. I could get it stable at a maximum of about 220, but with heavy artifacts in 3DMark03 CPU tests. I had to reduce the FSB to about 216 to get it running stably with no artifacts, and when I upped the FSB to like 230 or 240 it wouldn't even POST with the ratio set to 5:4, it had to be 3:2, unless I increased the voltage to 2.85. It would boot to Windows but crash during a benchmark or Prime95 very quickly. Anyway, I replaced the RAM with OCZ PC3700 Gold Rev.3 and I can run a 1:1 ratio at 238 FSB so far with no problems, been looping 3DMark03 for about 2 hours now.

Switched the memory to 166 and I'm running the CPU at 2.5 GHz @ 1.45 volts right now without breaking a sweat. Damn memory. Hopefully it'll loosen up a little or maybe I'll try slots 3&4 instead of 1&2, I know some people with Neo2's have had luck doing that.

im running the XMS PRO PC4000 at 230FSB at 2.5 3 3 6. i thought i bought too high speed of ram for my 3.0C P4C800 asus but sounds like im glad i did. Good luck with whatever you do.

I'm still hoping to get a decent FSB out of it, if not I was getting pretty good performance with the CPU at 2.5 GHz and the memory at 208. I can probably run 2-2-2 1T timings at 208 so it wont be a total loss.

It sounds like you're using SATA 1 and 2. They're not locked like 3 and 4. You wont get shit out of your RAM like that. Also try bringing your HT multiplier down to 3x, it wont do anything to your performance, but it will let you OC more. If you're looking for new RAM pick up some Crucial Ballistix. I have my 2x512MB PC3200 running at 255MHz 1:1 2.5-3-3-10 1T in the same board as you with an FX-53.

what do you mean by SATA 1 and 2?

i'm on the Asus A8V Rev 2 board, and my memory is the Corsair 3200XL @ 2-2-2-5..

i'm hoping to bump my AMD 3500+ up to 2.5ghz @ a higher FSB, but i don't know if my RAM will handle it..

ive got stable on 250 3337 havn't tried to go lower on timings, someone had stable on 300 ive booted on that but still trying to get stable, it all depends on your mobo psu.
