Corsair Value Select, upgrade?

To make a long story short, my family's computer crapped out and needs a new mobo, processor, ram, and PSU. Right now I have 1gb corsair value select memory in my system and was thinking of giving it to them for the family computer. I have wanted 2 gb for a while now, would it be worth it to give it away and get 2gb of someother type of ram or should I just pick up another gb of the corsair vale select stuff for my system and let them figure out what ram they should get for the family pc?
