Hello

I've just purchased this PSU and installed it in my system, however it is much more noisy than i hoped for, in idle. I used an 600watt OCZ ModXStream before, and it didn't make a sound in idle, but right now the PSU is the only thing i'm hearing, like its running on full speed, reading on reviews people mostly state that it should be fairly quiet untill it needs to deliver the juice.

(it makes more noise than my 6950 in idle, and about same noise as my cpu fan in full load, scythe mugen)

Anyone knows why i hear this much noise from it?

It certainly is not the quietest power supply that Seasonic or Corsair has ever produced but it should not sound like the fan is really running full tilt at your desktop.

Just tried gaming a bit skyrim and crysis, and doesn't seem the PSU spins up, which perhaps would indicate that its stuck at full speed? Its still louder than my CPU cooler and graphic cards.

I would just return it and get a new one. Very possible that you just got a faulty one, which is inevitable.

I have the same PSU but I don't experience much noise. I think you've got a faulty one too, so yeah, I'm afraid you might have to return it.

Thanks for the response, i called the place from where i ordered it and picked it up and they agreed to let me switch it with a new one when i deliver it, great for means it doesn't have to go through support first and i don't have to wait on a new power supply, hopefully i will have more luck with the new one.
