Is it worth wiping this stuff off and replacing it when I install one of their coolers? Or is it quality?
 
absolutely not, do your best attemp to do a perfect mount the first time, the TIM used in corsair are probably one of the best in the market which it's Shin Etsu X23 Series, once you mount it correctly it will be in great shape for years. great quality
 
Thanks. I'll leave it for now. I am using the clip style mounts of which there are two. I'll try hard to get it on there right the first time it is a bit challenging. I like the mounts with 4 attachment points as they seem a bit easier to line up.

If I screw up bad enough I'll use the g-lids extreme stuff I have sitting around.
