I've obtained a 700D at an extremely cheap price from a friend who works at umart here in Australia, (only cost me $130)
I've heard the air cooling isn't too terrific on this thing, that being said I have no problem replacing the fans with 120mm Noctua NF's
I'm wondering if anyone could shed some insight into the best layout for these fans as I'm CLUELESS, some say to turn the back exhaust into an intake and get 3 exhaust fans on the roof and another intake at the bottom, jeeze I just don't know >_>
Any help, greatly appreciated
 
I have an 800D with an H70, and that runs as intake. I have the bottom fan as intake and the top fans as exhaust. I am getting temps of 37C CPU and 27C GPU.

Of course this is just one way to run your fans in your case, but it seems to work the best for me.
 
The 700D and 800D work great for aircooling if you keep the rear as an exhaust and have the top 3 fans as intakes. You'll see CPU and GPU temps drop significantly.
 
How big of a change in measured temps was it (and of course the system :p)? I'm considering throwing a couple of 120mm into my 800D.

Depends on the system a lot. On a Core i7 980 OC'd to 3.8GHz with dual GTX 480s, we saw a 4C drop on the CPU (with A70 aircooler), a 12C drop on GPU1 and I think 8-9C drop on GPU2. Don't remember exactly, so these numbers might be a bit off, but it's veryclose to this.
 
I have top 3 as intakes and real as exhaust, as redbeard suggested, and now my rig definitely runs cooler.

*Redbeard, what's the setup compared to? 3x top intake and rear exhaust vs stock configuration with no fans on top?
 
If I remember right it was 3x top exhaust and rear intake vs. 3x top intake and rear exhaust.
 
Having 3 top fans as intake would introduce a lot of dust into the system. I think you should invest in some filters if you were to do that.
 
Well if it helps i'm only going to be running an i5 with a slight overclock, and a 4870X2 (will be upgrading to AMD's next dual gpu card in december hopefully), so nothing overly crazy, but this 4870X2 is so freaking loud and hot, 80*C under load @ 80% fan speed
Wouldn't 3 top intake and only 1 exhaust create some sort of turbulance? don't you need air leaving the case just as fast as it's filling?

No case on the market that I know if is air-tight. If you have intake, it'll find its way out. Especially with the GPU and rear exhaust fan working together to exhaust the air.

I don't think it will really make much difference with a single GPU, but you're welcome to give it a shot and post the results.
