Will this be compatible with the new 8 pin connectors that the r600 series seems to require? Will it just be a case of buying an adaptor?

The inquirer says here: http://www.theinquirer.net/default.aspx?article=37040
that the 8 pin will be required with 3 of the new ATI cards.

Just want to make sure my power supply will be able to run stuff that is released in the future.

Deja vu....

The new cards each have one 8-pin, but will come with a two 6-pin to one 8-pin adapter so the cards can be used with the 99% of the power supplies on the market capable of putting out enough power to power the card, yet DOES NOT have a native 8-pin connector.

The Silverstone Strider ST85F 850w PSU has 4 x 6-pin and 2 x 8-pin native PCI-e connectors.

Silverstone seems to be slipping in quality lately. Plenty of reviews on Newegg to confirm this. I advised a friend to get the Strider for his new build a couple of weeks ago. The PSU failed to power a single 8800 GTX, the driver kept complaining about power. Switched to a BFG tech 650w (only thing worst buy had in stock with two pci-e cables) and it was fine. He RMA'd that PSU and I got him in on the Corsair 620w at ClubIT as that will give him all the power that he needs for quite a while.
