Really in need of a new PSU but just can't justify the cost currently. Fuck me. Looks like an amazing PSU though...

nice price on that monster. I think I would be pissed about the cable lengths if they are as short as people are complaining about.

great PSU. I already have one. The 8 pin cable is a little short but will reach in a 650D case. The rest of the cables are long enough for most mid tower cases.

Just don't get an AX1200. i tried two and It's a pos imo. The AX850 powers (2) GTX 580's with no problem.

I found the same issue. My 700D Corsair case had an extension that was included with it so that fixed the issue right away.

Amazon has a ton of different brands of 8-pin extension cables for $8.00 or so, shipping is either free or a few dollars more.

They are made by a different manufacturer, Flextronics I believe, versus the Seasonic ax750 and ax850. I tried two different 1200's. Both had coil whine with and without load. Also, the fan sounded like it had gravel for bearings and was spinning with no load. Perhaps I got a bad batch, but it seems like a common complaint. Also, I think it is risky having that much current on one rail. I'm no EE, but my gut says the HCP1200 is a better design with over current protection on multiple smaller rails.

The AX850 I have now is silent and the fan only spins under load. When the video cards and processor are both at full load, my system draws ~740 watts at the wall with (2) overclocked GTX 580's, (2) 120mm fans, (6) 140mm fans, (2) hdds, (1) ssd, and an overclocked 2500K. I suspect the AX850 can handle much more than 850 watts at the wall.

I wanted to love the AX1200, but after experiencing (2) noisy units....

I would hope so considering it's rated for 850W DC (980W AC).

My Seasonic X-750 put out 850W DC for 10min without a problem (didn't really want to test it beyond that).

Never knew two oc'd 580 + oc'd 2500k would suck down that much power. Makes me wonder if my goal of something like a single mildly oc'd 570 + 2500k oc'd would require more than my current corsair tx650.
