Have a build in progress going on and am getting another 5850 in this week. My problem is, I dunno if my 750 TX is enough for my final specs anymore, as much as I adore the thing.
Core i7 920 4ghz
5850 crossfire (OCd)
GTS 450 PHYSx (OCd)
Hitach Deskstar 500GB SATA HDD
DVD burner
12GB DDR3 1600 (6 sticks)
Card reader
And to top it off 15 LED 120mm fans.
I have a 1000w in another rig, but I'd rather not undo all the fancy cable management I did maybe a week or two ago. :p Any ideas?

Should be fine.... wait, you are OCing a 450 PhysX only card?

How much does an OC'd 450 use processing PhysX?

Hmm, it's probably just barely enough, but you are pushing it with the inclusion of overclocking. I guess as long as nothing is overvolted, it should work. But overvolting can cause a major increase in power consumption and you have 3 video cards in there. This is one case where I'd feel like it's safer with a 850w or so.

I was running a 920 overclocked to 4Ghz with two 5850's in Crossfire with 6GB RAM, 3 HD's, DVD, and multiple fans as my 24/7 main rig for quite a while and had no issues at all.

Trust me you will be fine.

None of that is the concern, I'm curious how much power the OC'd 450 is using, and is there even a point to OC a card like that just for physx? I'd think a stock 450 would be overkill anyways.

Considering how the 450 only has one 6-pin connector, it is most definitely less than 150 watts. I think it probably uses around 100 watts at most. And no, I don't think there's a point to overclocking a 450 just for physx. A GTS 250 is overkill 99% of the time.

Overclock because stock speed is never enough! On a more serious note, I've already been reduced to molex adapters for my GTS 450 (which looks ugly as sin), and I think I may switch to the 1000w just for that and the opportunity for expansion in the future. Thank for all the advice though!

15 fans? Really?

Yeah that's a bit much. I remember when I use to be all OCD about temps. I think I peaked at 12 or 13 fans. Now though, my comfort level is far more important then my computers comfort level. My computer is darn silent now and while i'm sure my CPU may run a tad warmer, as long as it's stable thats all that really matters to me.

Its going to be damn close. If you already bought the card, go ahead and give your PSU a try. It might be a good idea to run prime95 and FurMark at the same time for a while to really suck the power.

It wouldnt surprise me that the more fans, the more electrical noise you are putting into your box which isnt good.

The cooling helps stability in one way but maybe not in another. All those electric motors......not for me.

Four maximum in any of my gamer rigs and only two (thats the CPU cooler and PSU) in my m-atx work boxes.
