I have a Outlook 2007 PST file that I recovered from a bad disk drive. It shows a valid size and .PST extension. I have tried the various e-mail recovery applications and tools but all return an error of " file is not a valid PST file" is there any application or tool that will allow me to decode PST file as as a text file or individual files.

In my opinion, first you should try to run Inbox Repair Tool or SCANPST which is a free utility developed by Microsoft to repair minor corruptions in Outlook Data File. But, Inbox Repair Tool does not repair highly corrupted PST File and also fails to repair huge Outlook Data File. So in such a scenario, you can switch to any third party source. I would like to recommend you Outlook PST Recovery software to repair highly corrupted Outlook Data File as well as remove all the bugs from the PST file.

Hi,

There are a lot of online resources discussing about how to recovering corrupt or damaged PST files.

First, the Microsoft offical tool scanpst, also called Inbox Repair Tool, can repair the PST file, you can refer the following articles:

Second, there are many third-party Outlook recovery tools you can try, below is a list of them:

Nearly all these tools provide a free trial so you can try first to see if a tool works before purchase it.

Good luck!
