I have a Western Digital 80 gig hard drive that has been in my machine for about 2.5 years, and it seems that whenever I transfer large files onto or off of the drive, they become corrupted. In addition, my Overnet transfers often can't finish because of massive corruptions in them.
Video files look beautiful on my primary 40 gig Maxtor, but as soon as I move them to my 80 gig, they become corrupted and almost unwatchable. Sometimes they freeze or refuse to load.
Some files never leave the drive, and have been on it for years. These files work fine.
I haven't formatted or repartitioned the drive ever since I first got it. Do you think it needs something simple like that, or are my problems more major?
