Corner Loading Sub

Hi guys,

looking in my sig you can see my speaker array. what is the best way to corner load my subs? i currenly have the promedia sub stacked on top of the mtx. my room is about a 12x10' rectangle, not very big. i noticed the farther away i stand from the sub (one side of room to the other) yields the best results, but i cant set up my room that way.

enough babling. my question is this. how do i corner load the promedia sub? it has speakers on both sides and a port on back. if i corner load it, the one woofer and port muffle against the wall. i dont know how else to load it. the mtx sub is downfiring and the massive air coming out the bottom also muffles against the wall. what do i do? i'd like the great bass response but without the crappy muffling against the wall.
 
come on guys, someone must know the best way to corner load the ultra sub....

BTW: I know exactly what you are talking about. I have the PM 2.1's and the sub sounds 100% better when I step just outside my tiny room (10x12ft).
 
well its when you put your subwoofer in a corner of a room to get better bass response. im not sure exactly how it works, but i think the sound going in every direction bouces of the wall and towards the inside of the room and is therefore much more efficient, and perceived as more bass
 
Well, holy shit! I just put my sub in the corner of my small room. It is twice as loud now! It also seems to have no distortion at all now! Wow!

I only have 3 inches from two walls in the corner.

And since you have dual subs, you put one in each corner. that is what I was reading on the web.
 
First off,I realize your space is limited but putting one subwoofer on top of another is a big no-no. If you have a dual sub setup, you should position them at opposite sides of the room like you would place a pair of stereo speakers. As for corner loading, the Promedia sub is of dipole design, so have the front of the sub (the face with the Klipsch logo) face the center of the room or your normal listening position. This way, neither of the sub's drivers are blocked by the wall and the rear port still has suficient ventilation.

clift notes: The rear of the subwoofer faces the corner, the front faces the relative center of the room, and both side drivers face the walls at ~45degrees.

And yes I do know that low frequencies are non directional (so nobody flame me:D ). But placement does make a difference.

the acoustics in my room are crap.... anyway, is there anyway to prevent the klipsch sub from playing in the upper range, such as close to the 100 hz mark it goes up to? the sounds that come out of it at that range really really annoy me.
 
No, I'm guessing the crossover is fixed and the only way is to mod the circuits. The satelites of the promedia only goes so low, then the sub picks up the rest of the low frequecies that the sats can't reproduce. If you were to lower the sub's frequency cutoff, you'll be losing sound.
 
that's annoying sound i'd be willing to lose, since it sounds pretty crappy
 
ok guys.... seems the only think i like about my system is the mtx sub...... the klipsch spekaers just sound too sucky overall (although better than any other computer speakers). taking them back to best buy tomorrow and checking out HT.
 
damn, that's pretty drastic. But I guess you've already tried every option at you disposal, so whatever. How long ago did you buy the Klipsch's?
