unfortunately I can't search so I hope this question hasn't been asked. I did a quick google search and didn't come up with anything.

I just installed Core Temp .96.1, coming from .95.4, rest of specs are in sig.

On .95.4, my load temps were approximately 50C. When I switched to .96.1, my load temps are now reading 10C lower, 40C. Idle temp is the same, 17C (my pc is outside, currently -8C outside. For whatever reason my CPU has never gone below 17C. 17C is cold enough for me).

Has anyone else seen a change like this? I always thought my CPU ran a little hot compared to others, but it does like a lot of voltage so I associated the two. Has coretemp been off all this time?

Edit: what the hell, I just tried .95.4 again, and it is reading 40C also. I have never seen loads temps this low, and have run Prime in -11C, always runs ~50C. I haven't updated BIOS or anything, so this is kinda weird.

Core Temp is a great program, when used PROPERLY....since it accesses the DTS in the cpu directly, with no interpretation, it can be VERY accurate....but, only when used with the option set to "show remaining delta to tjunction max" set. If you use CT that way, it would show the same results between those versions. As you may know, tjunction max is where the cpu will shut/slow itself down to prevent damage. Since Intel is so secretive with the actual max temps, you are better off using it to show the DELTA to max temp. That will never change with software revisions....when trying to show actual temps, the software is "interpreting" the DTS signal, and quite often, is off a bit, as you see with the different revisions...

As long as your temps stay say 10c or more (15c or more is even better) BELOW tjunction max...you are golden.
