So according to the Overclocking guide above and other places I searched, the T.junction max is 85C, but Coretemp reports it as 100C. Which one is right? Right now I have my e4500 overclocked from 2.2ghz to around 2.9ghz and at load the DTS is around 45C so that would mean I'm only at 35C if 85C is correct.

Intel is rather lacking in that department of providing exact and concise info on the actual MAX Tjunction temp. Your best bet is to use Coretemp and go into options/settings and set it to show the "Show delta to tjunction max temp" that way it reports how far you have to go until the cpu hits throttling temperature. This way is correct all the time since it is reading the direct, unmodified, digital output of the on die temp sensor.

For instance, my E6750 overclocked to 3200mhz shows an idle temp of 65c REMAINING to max temp (tjunction) and loads show ~35c REMAINING to max temp, which is good. Anything less than about 15c to tjunction is great. Your chip will live a long and happy life at those temps or less.....
