Ok so my wants me to build him a system soon and wants me to build it for him and was thinking about getting a Core 2 Duo. But i saw some future mark benches on another forum i regular and im not really impressed does anyone have thier stock benchmark score so i can compare? The guy on the other forum was running a Core 2 Duo E660, Asus P5W DH Deluxe mobo, 2GB Muskin Redline DDR800 Ram with a Radeon X1900XTX.

out of the box with a X6800 running stock on a p5w DH board with 2 gigs of pc6400 and a 7950 card got 15k in 3dmark05 and 9k in 3dmark06

Why is using a graphics card benchmark to judge the quality of a cpu? The cpu doesn't have a very significant effect on your score regardless of how good it is.

You cant but it gives an slight idea of what gaming performance they will have and the other reason i asked is the other guys scores he posted seemed a little low.

Here is a link to my old thread with 01 score in it. Scroll down a bit.

I moved from a 955XE that was runnin @ 4.4GHZ and even @ 2560 x 1600 on my Dell 3007 I gained over 10FPS to my huge surprise. FarCry runs way smoother also.

With SLI / Xfire these new Conroe's make a H U G E difference. This is comming from someone who upgraded to a E6600 @ 2.7 from a X2 4400+ @ 2.6. Games are more than noticiably smoother, they are just plain faster. Even the synthetic 3DMark06, which is very video card limited showed a huge increase:

X2 @ 2.6 - 7900GTX's in SLI @ 700/1700
9015

E6600 @ 2.7 - 7900GTX's in SLI @ 700/1700
11004

Same GFX cards... New CPU, mobo, ram. Big difference eh?

E6400@3.2ghz, X1900XT @ near XTX speeds and 2GB nets me 6500ish on 3dMark06, maybe 6kish at stock probably.

e6400 stock speeds, ati x800xl at speeds in sig, 6500 in 3dmark 05, and you should really use pcmark if you want to bench the cpu alone, oh and my cpu score was 8500, its very bottlenecked by my gpu, when my gpu was at stock speeds the cpu only scored 7000 oced it got 8500

Im only getting 4kish for my 3DMark 2006 Latest ver. Score.

Im running on the sig specs, and I'm oc'd to 3.2ghz, stable.

Anyone have any idea why itd be so low? My X2 4400 at 2.4ghz (moderate 10% oc from 2.2ghz) was close to 7.8kish or so.

at 3.2ghz, on a new cpu w/ all this new hardware - and yes, I reinstalled the computer completely, and reinstalled 3dmark etc, before doing the tests.

Can anyone help, or experience the same kinda scores, which seem obviously.. quite low?

You sure you used to get 7.8kish on 3dmark06?! 3dmark is mainly based on graphics capabilities and the cpu score is not as heavily weighted as the other 2. I have a 7900gt oc and an e6300 oc'd to 3ghz and I am getting 5500 after oc-ing the hell out of the 7900gt. At stock gpu and with cpu oc'd as above I am getting 4800. So, maybe its ur gfx crd.

Ya I goofed on that, I had close to 5k, and I still have around 5100 marks now w/ the 3.36ghz stable overclock. The video card is bottlenecked -- Now I just need to decide if I should pick up the 7950 gx2, the 1950xtx, or a dx10 card since they are all pretty nice, or coming real soon.
