What is the difference between core speed and effective speed?? is 350mhz/1000mhz good?

350/1000?

Sounds like stock GT speeds
good observation... not a good reader though... not asking if you know what vc that is... I want to know if that's good....

if it was good or not would depend on how many pipes it had and how big the pipes were

oh the diff betwen core and effective is, core is the GPU's speed, effective is the VRAM's speed. basicly divide it in 2 and its the rams true speed

Why thank you, but that was too general of a question.

is 350mhz/1000mhz good?

"Good" is relative term, is 350/1000 good in relation to what?

To my 6800GT...no; for an x300 perhaps, I'm pushing my x300 (at work) a little higher (400/1100), but I attached an 80mm fan to it.

What are you trying to guage an x300 for anyways? I hope not for serious gaming. The x300 is a joke (atleast mine is), I can get CoD to run decently, but forget FarCry or D3

maybe a general question calls for a general answer?

and if you don't feel like answer that... I still have another question... What is the difference between core speed and effective speed?? is 350mhz/1000mhz good? (two questions)

Your question makes no sense so it cant be answered "properly". What do you mean good? Sure the stock clocks of a 6800GT is good but its not the best.

Core is the GPU's mhz speed. Effective Memory speed (the 1ghz speed) is the ram speed doubled. Its 500mhz but runs at the effectivly at 1000mhz.

They have been trying to say you cant guage "good" by clock speeds and memory speeds - the cores are what determine "good". If you want an actual good or no good, yes 1000 on ram is very quick ram and 350 on a nvidia 6800GT is "good" as well however 380 on a ati 9800 pro is worse than the GT's 350

there not gonna lock it just cause you say so, let this thread slip into oblivion(page 2)
