Core Speed Changed in CPU-z

I have my 2.4c overclocked to about 3.4ghz.

When I open Cpu-z the settings of the (core speed) and the (FSB) change.

Why do they change?

is it the power,

I have my vcore 1.75, but in cpu-z it says 1.644
 
The Everest program still has Fluctuations.

Also with Everest, my memeory timings are different and my processor is running at 47 C compared to 34 c that MBM5 and asus probe both say.

Is this software supposed to be more accurate.
 
are they changing any any big way? if they are changing by like 1mhz or something then its normal. your board is probably also undervolting the CPU, hense the lower vcore you are seeing.

1.75vcore for an intel? are you like....insane? You would need dry ice cooling for that.

...not on an northwood.... he runs the risk of SNDS, but many poeple run 1.75v on northwoods without problems on air/water.

i dont understand why everyone refers to p4's as "intels." if you wanted to get techinical about it, coppermines have a stock vcore of 1.75v, and they fall under the category of "intel" as well.

I have my 2.4c @ 3.4 and I too see the frequency fluctuate about 20 mhz +/-. I believe it normal. As for the vcore voltage, I think if you did the droop mod it would fix that. My IC7-G has a similar problem, setting 1.6v in the bios only gives me about 1.55-1.575v.
 
Northwoods are great processors. Yeah 1.75 is not that high.

I can get my 2.4c up to 3.7 GHz

I don't go over 1.7v and I'm watercooling. I know Northwood C's are less prone to SNDS but I'm not going to tempt that.
 
I have mine at 1.7 and I dont go over 38c under a full load. I mean running Hl2 or 3dmark and prime 95 for hours.

and its all on stock cooling.

There's no way those temps can be right for a stock cooler!! My barton 3000+ at stock speeds/voltages with a Zalman CNPS7000 cooler and five case fans loads at 39c.

Those temps can't possibly be accurate.

yeah u have a sucky amd.

and yes those temps are correct./ Read posts form when the 2.4c was a big chip. Almost everybody doesent go over 40c.

My bro has a 2400 or 2600 barton, non Oced and its hotter than mine.

I have a P4 570J @ 3.8ghz (stock) and it doesnt go over 41c idle and 55c load

I'm not going to argue with you there; this is the last AMD that I'm ever planning on buying. AMD has been a huge dissapointment for me.

I suppose the fact that my CPU uses a tiny die instead of a heatspreader probably has some impact on my temps; but I still find your temps difficult to believe (kudos to you, though, if they're accurate :) ).
 
Why are my memory times show as 2.5 6 6 in Everest and not 2.5 4 4

those temperatures are not accurate. 38C would be a lucky IDLE temp with the stock cooler and a p4 with 1.75v going through it

I suppose the fact that my CPU uses a tiny die instead of a heatspreader probably has some impact on my temps; but I still find your temps difficult to believe (kudos to you, though, if they're accurate :) ).
you realise that the HS increases temps, right? direct die cooling is much more effcient.

I believe what you're saying, but it's probably the readouts themselves that aren't accurate. Maybe the thermal diodes reporting your temperature are not positioned close enough to the core, or maybe your BIOS just isn't reading it right.

direct pressure on the core = more cracked cores = more RMA's for AMD. its just way to keep people from cracking the core when installing a HSF, as it was a big problem in the athlon/ athlon xp days.
maybe your BIOS just isn't reading it right.
thats whats going on. flash to the most recent BIOS and see if your temps change.

where are you placing the probe? 38C load on a NW-C chip at 1.75 is impossible with stock air cooling. when i pump 1.75v into my NW mobile, it boots at 42C, on the zalman cnps7000b-cu.
 
live in Bronx, Ny and my Case temps are around 55c

I just can't see how or why you would think your proc is actually running at 38c under a full load at 1.75 and have case temps of 55c on a stock cooler.

I can't stick 1.5 through my northwood without it booting at 43c.
