i dont understand why everyone refers to p4's as "intels." if you wanted to get techinical about it, coppermines have a stock vcore of 1.75v, and they fall under the category of "intel" as well.

those temperatures are not accurate. 38C would be a lucky IDLE temp with the stock cooler and a p4 with 1.75v going through itand yes those temps are correct./ Read posts form when the 2.4c was a big chip. Almost everybody doesent go over 40c.
you realise that the HS increases temps, right? direct die cooling is much more effcient.I suppose the fact that my CPU uses a tiny die instead of a heatspreader probably has some impact on my temps; but I still find your temps difficult to believe (kudos to you, though, if they're accurate).

I believe what you're saying, but it's probably the readouts themselves that aren't accurate. Maybe the thermal diodes reporting your temperature are not positioned close enough to the core, or maybe your BIOS just isn't reading it right.Data said:If ya dont beleave me I can pull out the probe and show ya.
direct pressure on the core = more cracked cores = more RMA's for AMD. its just way to keep people from cracking the core when installing a HSF, as it was a big problem in the athlon/ athlon xp days.I don't understand. thats whats going on. flash to the most recent BIOS and see if your temps change.maybe your BIOS just isn't reading it right.

where are you placing the probe? 38C load on a NW-C chip at 1.75 is impossible with stock air cooling. when i pump 1.75v into my NW mobile, it boots at 42C, on the zalman cnps7000b-cu.Data said:I mean a external hardware probe. I have one and have done it before. just have to set it up.
live in Bronx, Ny and my Case temps are around 55c
