Maybe I shouldn't start a thread for this, but here is the most concise explanation I've found for the naming of the core chips:

Soo...you're just cleaning up the difference between Core Duo and Core 2 Duo?

Yeah..most of us got it. ;) ..but that's cuz we're all hardware geeks and have been following this stuff for a while. :p
