Running one SMP client and adding the SMP flag doesnt net all cores only loads15% or so. If i add SMP flag to shortcut i get an error....

check out the VM guide for the notfred client.. on the i7 you have to run 4 SMP clients in VM to get the most PPD out of it..

Ok but thats not my question ATM. I want to just get this SMP working on the 8 cores

I dont mean to seem like an @$$, by why the hell would you want to do that? lol. With the notfred vmware guide by capreepy, you can get a heck of alot more points than with the traditional smp client.

Just run 2 SMP clients, each with 4 "cores", that's what we do with dual quads.

From that screenshot it looks like your mpi service isn't set up properly. Run install.bat as an Administrator and set that up again, and then see if it works.

Also, the WinSMP client won't take full advantage of your CPU, so if you really want to get the most out of it, you should consider running VMs like the others have suggested.

I tried and i really have no coprehension as to what the hell that thread is doing... i tried for the last half hour and its too much work for it. I just wont fold forget it

Don't give up! If you need help with it, all you have to do is ask. There are plenty of people here happy to guide you through it every step of the way.

Thats why we keep harping on the notfreds. They are actually really simple. Just six basic steps to get started.

1. Download Vmware and the Notfred image
2. Install Vmware
3. Open the Notfred image in Vmware
4. Once the first vmware has got to the point where it starts running (approx. 20 secs after opening), put the ip address in your browser
5. Change the info in your ip address to your information.
6. Restart the vmware (after clearing out the contents of the folder you have it in(except for the original files))

Your Done!

you can run the WinSMP client. It is not as stable as the Linux SMP. You problem is probably a permissions or password issue. re-enter your password. also may require that you startup as adminstrator. try those two things. Also there is a WinSMP guide in the Horde Sticky at the top of the forum. Check that out for additional help.

The folks pushing the notfreds have gotten spoiled at how simple it is D) . If you do have questions don't hesitate to ask. we are here to help. there are quite a few that are running them as well as me (I wrote the guide).

What OS are you using?

Did you turn off UAC before installing? you can turn it back on when you are done.
