Anyway, whats the deal with the SB cooler? Is that actually for the SB or was that just another waterblock sitting there. I really like that motherboard, finally sensible color choices from gigabyte. Enjoy the new setup!
 
I disagree with your vsboxerboy, I think that the light blue is ugly. They should have gone with darker blue.

Nice rig man! Are you going to OC that CPU?
 
Yes i fired up today to be honest it is faster than my Q6600 @ 4.1ghz i had. There is no need to overclock this monster, but i will upto 4ghz at least.

The motherboard is a beauty cooling is excellent. I love the motherboard. I was thinking using that Chipset block on that motherboard where i put it in the pictures, i might as well later. But right now enjoying the super fast Core i7

Yeah, i update the BIOS last night. I was busy installing every thing from scratch Games, etc. I will try overclocking tonight. Will post some numbers also, but man i really like Core i7 extremely fast, like i said before it feels faster then my q6600 @ 4 ghz without overclocking.

I think it is more response then my old system is because of my New WD RAPTORS in RAID0, i did not had these in my previous system.
 
Oh i forget i have to LAP THE CPU too :) may be when i get the mount from d-tek, so far Temps are

25 at idle and 30 at load.

I wanted to do the same thing but I figure i'll just use the stock cooler till d-tek releases a 1366 mount.

Did you enable turbo mode?
 
Hey Annaconda, nice build there. Question, what made you stick with plastic barbs on your reservoir / GPU blocks?
 
1. Nope Turbo mode is disabled so does most of the rest of the advanced CPU setting, except Virtualization and the last one i forget the name. I will post screen shots of the BIOS tonight after work.

2. Plastic barbs came with the setup, i don;t see any reason to switch to metal barbs, plastic ones are as good as it can be. I know metal ones looks nice, but when i bought the GPU and Reservoir most people were using Plastic ones.
 
Nice OC. Are your overclocks prime95 stable? Definitely itching to to get this set up, but I'll just have some patience and wait for swiftech to release an i7 adapter for the apogee GTZ.

Edit: according to a thread in the swiftech forums...a retention bracket for the apogee GTX and GTZ will be released this week.
 
Any info about D-tek Fuzion Bracket? i don;t believe why they did not release it last week with Core i7?
 
Any reason why turbo mode is disable?
With water, the chip will definitely trigger and give you a 22 multi.

Heck, even with my stock cooler, my 920 was running at 2933 on stock volts and humming at around 70C. It's pretty nice :)

Now if D-Tek releases their mount.... I don't feel like spending another $80 on a GTZ + 1366 mount. I believe someone over at XS says that the mounts are in production and should be out soon.
 
D-tek Fuzion V1 is more than enough for the CPU, i don;t think so any one need to change the Block. To be honest i just diabled the Turbo mode, because it says in the Manual will give you better stability in Overclocking.
 
Yea I also have a Fuzion V1 with the adapter plate and not the pro-mount.
I'm not that anal for that extra few degrees, I just can't justify the extra cost.

This at least gives me time to setup my loop for the i7, properly cleaning everything and leak testing for 48 hours or something :)
 
Wait, are you really going to lap the CPU? damn. lol - I, personally, would definitely wait on that, both to see the potential gains and to just be happy with it for now. :)
 
I am thoroughly impressed by this i7 chip. Spending no time with this chip, I bumped the bclk to 166 and only it's 80C on the stock cooler. Turbo only bumped the multi up by 0.5 but it's a free 0.5 multi.

I wonder what this baby can go with some tweaking :D



I don't think the stock cooler can take any more so i'll stop till I can mount my waterblock.


Messed around some more, still stock voltage......
