I overclocked my Core i7 to 3.2Ghz (keeping it safe). While running prime95 the core temps reach 71C!!!! Im running a Coolermaster V8 with artic silver 5. Is this normal for the core i7? My idle temp is 39C Core temps.
 
sounds about right. max temperature is 100c, so 71c isn't bad. I'm running 3.6 at 87c with an inferior cooler, and at higher voltages than most people run at this speed (to guarantee absolute stability)
 
ryu4000, what are your voltages, fans and ambient?
That's normal though, it's not that hot. You should be fine, I get 75ºC temps @ 4.005GHz on a Swiftech GTZ.
 
i'm also using the cm v8 with as5 but at 3.4ghz and much cooler than your cpu. hottest core reached 63'c at max load. i've found that some boards increase vcore automatically when you push bclk.
