Core i7 oc to 5GHz!

940 to 3.8GHz rock solid here on water and ASUS P6T. Dan the 960EE to 3.85GHz on air on the Rampage II Extreme. More information coming on all this. The 940 looks to be THE Nehalem to get and OCing the thing was as easy as it could possibly get. Bump Vcore, bump BCLK......uh....done. Reboot and enjoy.
 
1.59v huh. Sounds like a lower 4Ghz OC on a decent air set up though
 
Seems like all non-extreme overclocks are going to be rock solid or bust though. (wattage cap woes)

Of course I don't have my hands on any just speculation.
 
I'm looking for some 920 overclocking results as that's probably the sweet spot for enthusiasts. That ~$180 you save will help with the cost of a motherboard. I was thinking about a cheap S775 system but perhaps this is the way to go - my trusty old P160 and power supply can last another build, at least for now...

Edit: I see that Anand managed to get 3.8Ghz out of his 920... Not too shabby at all!
 
... so when, where, and how-much can i buy one?! whats on the horizon for the cost of this tri-channel memory too.

OMG my inner turmoil over whether to buy a solid dual core and OC to 3.6-4GHz or wait for this beast is killing me! (focus of gaming with large side plate of coding and photoshop)... arg can i justify the additional 400 - 700$$ build cost (big range is due to the fact that i might need a new PS for i7)
