I've got an ASUS P6T Deluxe V2 and a Core i7 that I'm getting ready to put together, and I was curious if there are any good guides for overclocking an i7.
I watched Kyle's video on the P6T V2 and its OCing ability, he just set one voltage to a non-stock voltage and then he was good to go for a 3.8GHz Core i7. But I don't know how he came to the conclusion that this was the best solution, nor do I understand what other options there are for OCing.
Plus, I don't know what you guys consider the 'gold standard' as far as OC stress-tests are.
I'd like to, ideally, OC the CPU while keeping the RAM at 1066MHz frequency. Get that stable first, then bump the RAM up to 1333MHz (which is its rated speed actually). Then maybe OC the RAM a bit more, if it is up to it. But I'd be perfectly happy with RAM at any frequency, mostly because I needed cheaper 12GB sets (quantity over speed for me right now).
