Core i7 comes to LGA1156

yes. should help push the Core based cpus to mainstream. only crippling will be no HT and the lower end of the ghz scale will be on i3/i5. should make for some great ocing, especially since HT creates more heat. it will be fun to see future comparisons between oc'ed i7's and i5's.

its a lynnfield, not a bloomfield. i7 just means it has 8 threads.

Yes. The only thing it will seem to be missing is tri-channel memory. I can live with that.

s1156 brings with it the following changes
* dual channel
- 32 PCI-E (on northbridge)
+ 16 PCI-E (on CPU) (thus requiring a CPU (socket?) change to get x16/x16 or PCI-E v3.0)

clarkdale (i3/i5 dual cores)
+ GPU (seperate 45nm die with PCI-E)
+ 32nm (CPU)
