Core 2 Quad

I recently purchased a used Q9550 to replace my E8400 since I wanted the extra juice to play BF3 but didn't want to replace the whole system. I spent $170 for it (actually a good deal), minus what I sold my E8400 for ($80), so really only a $90 investment for significantly more power. I guess there are a lot of people out there like me who are in the same situation.

I was actually thinking about doing this myself as I have just about the same system as you but wasn't sure if it was worth it to go quadcore on this old platform. In fact, the only reason was to get BF3 running a little smoother on high settings @ 1920 x 1200. So you are definitely not alone. Still though... I am tempted to wait for Ivy Bridge and get a new CPU/mobo.

Well if it influences your decision at all, i'm running BF3 at 1920x1080, Ultra settings with 4xAA and HBAO and get about 40 FPS ( was about 33 or so before unlock and overclock to 6970)

Yeah getting about the same here around 35-45fps minium. I just got a hd 6950 for cheap. No HBAO though just ssao. Motion blur off (can't stand it.)

Haha I hate motion blur as well! Seems like you guys are getting decent framerates with the q9550's... Another question for you: even at the times when I am getting 50-60 FPS, and have great pings on whatever server I am playing on, it still seems that the game runs sluggishly. I'm wondering if its just because of my CPU or if its like that for you guys as well with the quads...

I have no such issues, its very fluid. I used to have an E8400 at 3.8 GHz, but with dual 4870s and the game ran like crap even on lowest setings and lower resolution. I'm sure thats 99% attributable to the video cards though, so I couldn't really tell you.

The Intel I5 processor is fully made by the latest HD graphical and high speed technology with powerful and advanced video graphical engine.
Intel I5 provides hyper threading technology to its users for multitasking capability too .
Although the latest has been come but its still enough for the programming usages and also in access to buy because the latest technologies are still very expensive.
