Core 2 Duo build question...

Hello,

I am thinking of building a Core 2 Duo build sometime in the near future. I plan on sticking the modules of ram that you guys recommend me in a Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3 Socket T Motherboard. So what brand/model of ram would you guys recommend? Also, the processor i plan on purchasing is the E6600. Thanks for any suggestions.

i wouldnt start a conroe build anytime soon because AMD is coming out with a new BETTER proccesor called the SICKNASTY INTEL KILLER and i would just wait for that :D :D
 
Well, Fry's does have that OCZ EL Platinum DDR2-800 memory on sale for $149 AR. Check in teh [H]ot Deals forum for that. Otherwise, G.Skill DDR2-800 memory is good; you can find the 2GB kits at Newegg. I'm not so sure on the compatibility of teh HZ sticks, though, as I've heard stories of DS3 not working with certain G.Skill memories; you will want to confirm this, though. It's just off teh top of my head. :D

G.Skill DDR2 1000 is probably the best stuff on the market right now. Don't tell anyone, but I'd go for Team Xtreme DDR2 667. You can get them at tank guys. It's clocked at DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) but the ram ICs on the PC board is the same stuff on DDR2 1000 models. I've seen a lot of guys get their RAM to clock over 1100mhz on the Team Xtreme stuff, no lie. and it's 92 bucks for a 1 Gb kit.
 
StealthFish: D'oh. How could I forget about that Team Xtreem memory? XtremeSystems just loves that stuff. As far as I know, tankguys.com was the only supplier that carried the DDR2-667 Team memory, but they only have their new revision that sells for about $220 I believe. That stuff is insanely overclockable; I believe someone even got 4-3-2-1 by changing the timings through software. xtremesystems.org/forums should be the place to look; check out their XtremeBandwith sub-section for more info.
