Copy/Moving Files Lags System

I'm moving a large number of files (600MB+ for each file) as I type this can even the text is a very seconds behind! Anyone know of a fix for this? Specs are in my signature and this machine is XP 64-bit.

I may be completely wrong, but you may want to try a quad core if you are going to be doing this often.

You may want to check if DMA is enabled:

If it's in PIO mode but you can't get it to use DMA, you need to do a Registry fix:

I realized I may have been using old nforce drivers, I'm going to try updating. And I'm sure my processor is not the bottle neck, as its only utilizing 20-30% of my processor on file transfers.

Thanks for reminding me about DMA, I completely overlooked it and it made me make the connection that my sata drivers were really outdated and beta. All is well now after the upgrade!
