In my quest to get some better performance out of my WC setup, I've been looking at waterchillers. Most are too loud, bulky, and/or troublesome to install. I don't like TEC/water setups becase of the failer, condensation and power usage issues.

However, I've been thinking about Eliminator or Freezone from CoolIT. They use TECs to chill the water and a heatsink/fan combo to cool the TEC. Power usage seems reasonable @ 50 wattish. I have a dual rail PSU for sli and I don't plan on sli-ing anyway.

So would a $186 Eliminator work well in an existing WC loop (I plan on taking out the built in CPU block)? Right now I have

T-line -> MCP655-> MCW60(OCed 8800GTS) -> DD 480GTX -> Apogee(E6600@3.6) -> back to Pump

My plan

T-line -> MCP655-> MCW60(OCed 8800GTS) -> DD 480GTX -> Eliminator ->Apogee(E6600@3.6) -> back

Pros
1. Chilled water to CPU (going to upgrade to quad soon) and semi chilled to GPU
2. Not going down below ambient (hopefully... I'll have to double check after installing)
3. Extra pump and no worry about failing TEC overheating CPU/GPU
4. Won't be taxing the TECs too much since loop's water will be cooled by the DD 480GTX as well

Cons
1. Shell out more money

What do you guys think? Will this be more effective?

That's the thing though... even though the TECs is only using 50watts it's not actually cooling the CPU, it's chilling the water. If you look at some of the reviews for the Eliminator, I can put a loaded OCed core duo around 40-45*C on high.

Not really. Heat is heat... Negative heat is still heat.

If it's using 58w of electricity or so, it's only dumping about -40w of heat into the loop.

A stock conroe at full load will dump about 65w of heat into the loop. leaving an excess of around 15w of heat. Which is translated to an x degree rise over ambient temperature, seen in the CPU.

Just because it's chilling the water doesn't mean the cooling capacity is magically doubled or something...

With my fully loaded overclocked conroe (just shy of 3.5ghz) and an 8800GTS in my loop, I load at ~35c given a room temperature of 22.5c. No TEC chilling, just 4x 120 worth of radiators.

The Freezone and Eliminator use 1/4" hose. Don't bother.
Edit: it will just add way too much restriction to your current setup.
