i need a cooling solution for my x850xt PE video card. the tiny stock heatsink and the loud fan are driving me nuts. i would preferably like something that vents directly out of the case. 50 $ max price. i was lookin at the ati silencer 5 but i cant find it anywhere. i need quiet and decent cooling (no oc on this card)

yup i use that hs/fan too and its fantastic for that card! very quiet.

its on carpet because i put it there. I've never had a component in 6 years fry because of laying it on carpet for a minute or two. its not like im rubbing it vigorously or flailing about like a fish while im touching it. usually i don't lay things on carpet but i guess i did that day. so rather than go with the theory that any small bit of static will kill a component, i go with my own experience, which has been good so far.
does this look like a system built by a guy who 'doesn't know no better' ? nice english by the way.

Does that fit the AIW model? If so I'm sold; the stock cooler absolutely blows even in a case with great air flow.

On the carpet note I've laid thousands of pieces of hardware on carpet. Nothing to brag about but nothing to freak out over either.

Carpet doesn't make or hold static electricity. Rubbing across it does, however, in the same way clouds move over landmass and create static electricity, which creates lightning. But you won't hurt a component just laying it on carpet.

VF900 works well too. I can't speak on the ACS5, but I know I don't regret my purchase at all, even if it is a bit pricey. It's dead silent (to me) and cools great even on the lowest setting.
