Cooling for my FX5200

First of all: Yes. I know it's a crappy card. :p

Now that that's out of the way. This is the video card I'm
stuck with for the time being (had to sell my 6600GT AGP card
to pay some bills :( ).

Anyway, it's an XFX Geforce FX 5200 128MB card:

I used coolbits and nvidia's "auto" overclocking/detect thing
and it brought my speeds from 250/333 to 310/456.

I was pretty impressed with that since there's just a heatsink on the
thing and nothing on the memory chips.

I ran 3DMark01 and some of the tests would seemingly freeze frame,
but after that I played Half-Life 2 for an hour or so without problems
at the overclocked speeds.

I'd like a better cooling solution, however, to see if I can get it any faster
and also just so I don't fry anything since I can't afford a replacement
right now (technically, I can't afford an aftermarket cooler right now, but
that's just symantics ;) )

So, what would you guys recommend? I was thinking about the Vantec
iCEBERQ 4, which I had on the last 5200 I owned, but the ramsinks it
comes with are square and don't fit my cards ram chips correctly.

So, give me some ideas. :)
 
First off, that's pretty good :) . I would hack up an old CPU heatsink if you have one. Otherwise, save your cash for a video card you want, unless you think you're going to be with this one for a LONG time.
 
Well i have the same card, well the same gpu, mine is made by evga. Stock timings: 250/400 i found the best until performance went down was 282/527

I'm not employed because I take care of my disabled father.

I get a check every 3 or 4 months for things I do online and
it's usually just over a hundred bucks or so.

What did you mean about the CPU heatsink? I have an old
hs/f that's not being used for anything. Were you recommending
that I just take the fan and put it on the heatsink that's on my video
card? Or did you mean something else?
 
For that kind of quality card I recommend the two step approach.

I assume that wouldn't cool the ram, though, right?

I can't find decent pics of what's all included, but from what I've
seen, it doesn't look like it comes with ramsinks either.
 
if u want i can probly send ya a couple p2 and p3 hsk if u just pay shipping hack them up and epoxie them on thats what i did with my 5200 when i first got it

Nah. Thanks anway. But I'd rather just spend the 12 bucks or so when
I have it to get the cooler that was pointed out to me and the ramsinks
I pointed out.
