I currently use a gigabyte heatsink and fan to cool my processor. Although it looks cool with the blue lights and has an adjustable fan speed, it is not cooling the cpu very well at all. At idle the cpu is at about 56c. I'm also using arctic silver 5 compound. I think I'm just going to sell it on ebay. What would be the best replacement? My mobo does not have the holes by the cpu for heatsinks requiring that type of attachment. Noise is not a factor as having the current fan set at high is audible. Any suggestions would be great. Would I be able to hook up watercooling to this board?
 
I have the same proc. I took the plunge and got into watercooling. I run it at 2.4 and get about 45c idle and 50c load. Check dangerden.com for watercooling parts and access. If you need help let me know I will be glad to help you. You can email me at aknapp at gmail dot com
 
Some say its better to DIY and also reaps more benefits. I say if you know what your doing DIY if you don't and have the extra money then go that route. Check out the others before you make your final decision. Coolerguys.com has about all the manufactured watercooling setups there is. Check them out and read some reviews on each. Personally I like the Corsair one which they don't have on that site.
 
Another thing is... you get way more pride out of doing it yourself. :)
