Hi,
I'm running into a problem with my system. About a week ago, I noticed that i couldn't run any games longer than 5 minutes without the games crashing on me. I still can hear sound from my speakers but I have no picture on my monitor. And even worse since yesterday, I'm getting crashes form web browsing! My screen goes haywire and I hear a a sound form the PC speaker and i have to close the computer with the switch on the back.
Looking at Moterboard Monitor temperatures, I noticed it's running quite hot in there. CPU temp near 60ºC, case temp 41ºC, both at IDLE. Judging from the other threads in here, that is just way too high.
I have a cheapo system case so the only case fans on it is an Antec 80mm fan at the bottom front blowing air in and the PSU fan blowing air out in the back and no other place to install one. I'm running the p4 2.4c with the stock HSF@default speed, no OC. The system is located near a 12,000BTU AC so room temperature is not an issue.
So I guess one way I could remedy this situation would be to replace the retail HSF on my cpu. These are the models my local computer store has for sale. I'm looking for your suggestions on this purchase with my main priority being ease of installation.
- Thermaltake SilentTower CL-P0025 88$CAN
- Swiftech MCX478-V air cooling solution 132$CAN
- Coolermaster Jet 4 ICB-V83 71$CAN
- Gigabyte 3DCooler PRO 51$CAN
Here are the other choices if you feel inclined to take another look: http://www.microbytes.com/products.php?cat=219
I'll prolly change the Antec case fan at the same time for something a bit more powerful. How about a Vantec Tornado? Or is that just way too noisy?
My full system specs:
P4 2.4c@default speed
MSI 865PE Neo2-LS MS-6728
1gig DDR PC2700 Dual channel
ATI Radeon 9600PRO
I've had this system for over a year so why am i having problems now?
