Cooling AMD X2 Regor 245

Hey all. I have a cooling question regarding my AMD X2 regor 245 that's in my HTPC.

The stock HSF is starting to get a little too noisy for my tastes (even with the bios setting of "low" cpu fan speed). I will try to clean it out and see if that helps but if not, does anybody have any experience with not running the fan and just leaving the HSF on? There's two 40mm exchaust case fans (Lian Li case) in line with the cpu if that helps any.

Thoughts?

I did that with my Athlon II X2 45W chip (not sure what model it is, I don't recall) in my HTPC and I have 2x80mm case fans right next to it sucking air across it out the case. Are you overclocking? You can give it a shot and monitor your idle/load temps to see if they are sufficient. Make sure you do this with the case closed :) If they aren't, then you may need a larger sink on the chip (for silence) or a replacement fan.
