I have bought a new case and I'm looking for advise on how to configure fans. I'm still not happy with case and cpu temps. My CPU runs about 47c idle.

The case that I bought has fans in following places (I will also notate if have them sucking in or pushing out):
120mm front (sucking in)
120mm side over cpu (pushing out)
80mm x 2 back (pushing out)
80mm top (pushing out)

The computer goes in a compartment in my desk which has about 4 - 5 inches of space on both sides of case and top. Case is about 2 inches from back. I have taken door off. I have a hole with a 120mm fan in the lower rear of compartment pulling air out (I'm thinking of adding second in higher spot). I have a ARCTIC COOLING Freezer 64 Pro Cooling Fan with Heatsink on CPU blowing air towards the 2 80mm fans at back. I would love not have to put case in this compartment but there is no way around it.

In summary I have 49 cfm of air going into case via fan and 118 cfm being pushed out by fans. The whole front of case is mesh so additional air can be sucked in. Air is only being pushed out of back of cabinet at 49 cfm (but front is open).

Any advise? Should I change configuration on any of the fans? Thanks in advance for any help!

Since you're almost in an enclosure with your case you're not going to get much better temps with air cooling. You may try flipping your side from exhaust to intake just to test that out.

i think the 120 on the side should blow in the case.

other than that everything else looks to be good. I think it's just a matter of where you case is.

The side fan is intended for the graphics card to keep the GPU nice n cool.

IMHO your final arrangement of fans should be as close to an equalised airflow pressure for intake/exhaust.
If anything, have slightly negative pressure within the case. Change fan voltages for adjustment. This does suck in dust though, so remember to clean inside case every few months.
Use foam air filters for both intakes to reduce intake of dust. Don't use mesh filters as this reduces airflow.

I favor traditional front-to-back airflow for efficient cooling of all components.

I'd tape off the side vent. Side-vents are intended to provide a side-intake for zone-cooling of CPU and/or vid cards - but they create a side-to-exhaust air path that reduces front-intake air flow, possibly resulting in hot hard drive temps and always increasing case noise.

Remove air flow restrictions:
- Remove case fan grills (diagonal cutting plier, metal snips or dremel).
- Check case front bezel for restricted air flow.
- Use low-restriction air filter media and keep it clean.

Be cautious about negative case pressure, since it tends to stall air flow through your PS. The 80mm top-vent may be a problem, if it creates too much negative case air pressure.

Hope this helps!

I have two 80mm front intake, two rear 80mm exaust, one 80mm blowhole, one 120mm side intake, and one 80mm interior SLI exaust redirecting fan (pointed up and slightly toward the rear. When I place my hand in front of the front intake hole for the two 80mm, I feel massive amounts of air being moved.
