Wow, been a while since I was active on the old [H]...
Ok, to business...I'm sitting in my office sweating like a pig stuffed between my main rig
AMD XP3000
1GB Corsair XMS PC2700
Chaintech Zenith
and my fileserver....
AMD somethingorother 1.4gHz
512MB can'tremember PCyourguessisasgoodasmine

1.3TB total drivespace in 10 drives
wondering if that mouth watering aroma is baked geek.
As soon as winter hits down here I'm going to be putting around another TB of drivespace in said fileserver in 4-5 drives depending on funding and prices at the time of purchase. In short, holy hell is this room hot.
Anybody got some good suggestions for cooling this kind of hardware? Obviously H2O isn't much of an option since most HDD blocks are a touch on the pricy side, and while strapping a gargantuan floor fan to the open side of my case has worked relatively well so far, leaves a little to be desired aesthetically.
Also, case suggestions would be welcome as well, considering I've had to install a second PSU outside my current Chieftec 1030 or whatever. I've been considering the plausibility of bolting everything to a sheet of plywood and hanging it on the wall like I've seen others do but, while the bizzarro factor is definately there, it lacks a certain finesse. Not to mention a logical fan mounting strategy.
PS...while I realize that more efficient cooling of the hardware within the case doesn't mean cooler temperatures in my office (heat has to go somewhere duh) I'm more concerned with the safety of my investment in the hardware involved and the data stored ON the hard drives than my own personal comfort anyhow. I'll be out of school the beggining of Dec so hopefully I won't be struggling so hard to pay my air conditioner bill after that.
