I have a 4870 now and it's hot, is there a comparable card to this that is cooler. Is the nvidia 200 series cooler? i have made the speed of the 4870 fan faster but it's still too hot.

thanks in advance for the suggestion.

its not to hot, its hotter than you would like but according to ATI/AMD its fine.

i set my fan speed to 30$ on my 4870 and it was the best noise:cooling ratio for me, 86 or so under load

The GTX 260 generates less heat, but the GTX 280 is about the same as the 4870.

There's a difference between how much heat is generated by the GPU and how hot the GPU runs due to how well said heat is dissipated. The GTX280 most definitely generates more heat than the 4870.
