Hi all,

I was going to buy the Coolermaster 830 stacker but heard a few bad reports
on it and they recalled it back 3 times. meantime I found another case
the Thermaltake Kandalf Tower case and it looks really nice and wondering
which one should I buy?

kaldalf looks like an odd case to me. the 830 is ok. but i would not buy a case with window again :)

if I'm getting a case, it'll be the original stacker. atx/btx mounts (for future upgrades) + very functional :)

how bout the thermaltake Armor case? its basically the same as the Kandalf but without the full front door.

What, nobody bashing Tt yet? The kidz must all have early bedtimes.

Seriously, though, look into all your options. this is what the guy above me is talking about. Lian-Li also makes big cases, and people here swear by their quality, but it'll set you back a LOT of money. (Example 1, Example 2...) Other than the stacker and the Armor I can't really think of any ginormous cases off the top of my head.

The original stacker is the best case out there. The 830 is also an excellent case, haven't heard about the recalls but if you want a big case that can hold a lot of drives and can easily water cool any system without modifications then the original stacker is the best option.

As for the quality of LL ... I looked at a LL a couple of weeks ago and I would NEVER compare their quality to CM's quality.

CM absolutely KILLS the quality of a LL .. the feeling of the aluminum, the strength and durability of a CM is the best out there, I just wish the original ATC guys didn't leave.

CoolerMaster. Another vote for the original stacker or the 810.

I personally like the look of the Tt Armor over the CM Stacker... The new stacker is cool though, I saw it in person at Microcenter and I really liked it.

Won't replace my Tt Tsunami though. :D

I think Coolermster's quality is lowest of three. I have never heard about Lian-li's bad rating about structure and accuracy. And they do almite for their outside alminum material for long lasting. It hasn't been done for alomost coolermaster products. Personaly , I have a few question in airflow in some of Lian-li's products though.

And I heard some complain about coolermaster products, most about stacker. These problem are around VGA slot. The 5-inch bay slot structure is not well too.

Thermaltake's problem is a flimsy alminum materiall in some products.

Although , I think all three made great case anyway. I want them to compete each other and see more nice products from now on. :)

I haven't heard about Stacker 830 recall but I know about what 830 had limitation of PSU selection (because of top fan mount).

I put a Tt Shark next to a CM Stacker, both fresh out of the box, the other day.
Anyone who would pay what Tt gets for the Shark is a fool. Sorry, but that case is obscenely overpriced for the engineering and build quailty that goes into it. Either improve it or cut costs, Tt. (I know you're listening.) Supergluing LEDs behind the door does not make it worth it. Especially with crappy looking wiring inside a poorly fitting door.
But you know what? The CM Stacker ain't that great either. That big round mesh just feels like it wants to break. It also scared the shit out of me when I pressed against the drive bay structure slightly and it gave. Drive bay structures aren't supposed to give. The whole case seemed to want to flex just a little, which screams vibration noise. The back panel is too weak for big PSUs like I run, as well. And the interior was very underwhelming.

In other words; both failed to pass my tests. Sorry kids. Well, not really. Why should I be sorry for trying to steer you away from inferior products? I can name any number of cases that are superior to the Stacker and Shark. Chenbro SR107, LiLi PC626, Enlight EN8950B, even the venerable Inwin S-series is sturdier, just to name four. With the exception of the PC626, they're all cheaper than the Tt and CM. In some cases, by a LOT.
Since you wouldn't be in this forum if you weren't planning to mod anyways, stop looking at what you start with and start looking where you can go. You'll find a whole world of better cases out there.

The older cooler master's were top notch quality, and the Praetorian and Wavemaster still are. Other than that, I don't know any of those cases, though from what I've seen of the stacker (In a local mom & pop shop) it's pretty nice.

You guys have to refer what you are talking about... they make TWO stackers now, the 810 and the 830.

The 810 is bullet proof... as for the 830, it's not a friend of mine since it's more geared towards people who wants looks and design. I wan performance, space, and everything else you can want in a case.

I have no idea what most of these people are talking about since I own 3 CM's

A Centurion
A Wavemaster
An original Stacker

Centurion being the least favourite because it's the cheapest but still looks and is better than any case at that price point.

Wavemaster being a frigging sturdy and light case that also sports good looks and a sleek body.

Stacker is the biggest and heaviest of all 3. Made of steel and aluminum I have no idea why anyone in their right mind would think it could break or give in. The only think that's week in this case is the mesh in the front because they're not sturdy but they hold.

Not every case is perfect but CM almost hits in the nail in the head everytime the release a case. If you want looks but cheaper quality and at a higher price then go with the newer LL. If you want good looks but sturdy then look no further than a CM.

If you're just plain cheap then go with the Tt. I'm sure you won't be dissapointed, no matter what you pick.

I've had both CM and LL cases. I agree about the feel and strength of the CM even though I like LLs too. I just wish they made a Praetorian full tower with removable MB tray and better strength. Until then, my new Silverstone TJ07 shipping this week will have to do :D

I think CM should have named the Stacker 830 something diffrent... the stacker is completley diffrent from the stacker 830

QFT. If I say "Stacker" I mean the original. If I say "CM 830" I mean the Stacker 830

Some people just don't understand that there is an older stacker out there :)

ROFL. BTX is a worthless path to nothing. Coolermaster>Tt any day, but honestly i would have a hard time making this decision, although Tt is low quality they look nice, and i guess i would still get the stacker anyway =]

I know nearly everyone loves Lian-Li cases, their quality is very good I do agree, but I just hate the look of them. When I am looking for a case I look for quality, looks aluminium and they must have a window and atx/btx case compatible

Me too!!!! Silverstone (TJ03, TJ07) FTW :D

I just built a rig with an old school Stacker. Wouldn't hesitate for a second to recommend it. I looked very closely at it and the TT Armor (side by side at a b&m store <doesn't b&m store sound really bad sometimes....?>)

First off, I didn't want a window and lights and stuff. I'm older now..lol. No offense to anyone that does, naturally. Just not my taste anymore, sick of my room glowing blue at night.

The Stacker is of awesome quality. Shit, even the screw holes are reinforced and internally threaded. Sturdy as a rock. Unified USB connectors (the armor still has the one pin at a time front port connectors for some retarded reason). Really good stuff.

My only complaints? The mesh front pannels tend to poke in and out easily. Makes them sit unevenly from one another if you don't go to the trouble to line them up just right. Also, drive installation is a bit of a pain. The rails have screw holes that don't line up, but that was easily remidied with double sided tape. The 830 seems to fix some of these, but introduces more.

I say get one! Haven't gotten to see any of the other alternatives mentioned here though, so can't speak in relation to those. Sorry for writing a novel.

Hi all,

Just like to say, I finally ordered my Coolermaster 830 stacker today and I
just can,t wait to see it live? :) :)

The Armor has unfied USB connectors, now the Firewire has single pin connectors.

Great! Post some pics once you get it!

I got a CM Stacker 830. Awesome case!
Got 7 x 120mm fans on it, muhahaha. Sounds like a construction bulldozer :p

Anyways, its an awesome case.
One problem with it is that Im customzing it right now so I can apply a
liquid cooling system on it. It doesn't seem to be built much in mind for applying
a liquid cooling system.

Liquid cooling with a CM flow fan would definetly cool all your components when
you OC them to extreme extents :D

Couple pictures I took while setting up my system for another forum.

nice case, but WIRE MANAGEMENT! All those fans wont do much if the wires plug the entire inside. ;)

lol, don't worry, I got em all tied up and hooked on a 5.25 mount.

The pics above are from couple weeks ago, when I started to build my system;
as you can see, several components are missing, like my vga cards.

Did you install 3 fans in the front of the case? IF so, how did you put them in?

I just recieved my case today its HUGE AND BEAUTIFUL can't wait until
I buy all the other components for it.
One little minor problem did anyone have trouble putting on the side doors or is it
just me?
